To make your WordPress blog run faster, there are many possible ways to do. But here I just found an easy, fast, less complicated way to have a faster blog. That is optimizing the blog to delete all revision, draft, spam,…

Today, after checking one of my blog, I saw it seem slows, so I searched for a plugin. First, I logging to my blog administration account then went to Plugins ==> Search ==> (typed “optimize“). Wow, there were many plugins relate to optimization. After browsing, I picked couples of them to see more details. Finally, I picked “Optimize Database after Deleting Revisionsby CAGE Web Design | Rolf van Gelder, Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

I started installing the plugin then browsed Settings section; oh, it’s there “Optimize DB Options“. I opened it. After reading the top message, I checked mark on “Delete all trashed items” and “Delete all spammed items“. Then clicked SAVE OPTIONS.

As it instructed, I went to tools to pick optimize database and then clicked start optimization. Punches of texts displayed, I rolled all the way down. I saw how many MB I saved.

After it completed the optimization, I opened my blog again and there is a big different from the before installation. Now, it’s faster. I was so happy with it. Then I went back to Settings to set it automatic optimizing by twice a day. I did this because my blog is updated very often. In my option, if you don’t update your blog often, you do not need to set twice a day, maybe you can set once month, it’s good enough.

In summary,

  1. Login ==> administration screen
  2. PLUGINS ==> SEARCH ==> type the word “OPTIMIZE”
  3. Pick Optimize Database after Deleting Revisions  ==> click INSTALL
  4. SETTINGS ==> Optimize DB Options ==> set up as you need  ==> click SAVE OPTIONS
  5. TOOLS ==> OPTIMIZE DATABASE ==> START OPTIMIZATION
